Honours & Distinctions
For Photographic achievement through the exhibition & panel systems.
Exhibition applications will be ACCEPTED at ANYTIME. 
Except during our Christmas break.

Official congratulatory letters from HSC will be emailed to successful applicants before the 21st of each month.

Certificates and Badges will only be mailed out 4 times per year by the office. February, May, August and November. However the Honours Roll on our website will be updated regularly.

The following Honours can be applied for through the APS Exhibition system.

LICENTIATESHIP (LAPS) 

Requirements - The applicant must:

  1. must be an APS Member, with a joining date prior to submitting the application for LAPS.
  2. have obtained 50 Acceptances that meet the following condition:
    (i) there must be at least 5 Acceptances from APS approved National or International Exhibitions.

No awards are required.

ASSOCIATESHIP (AAPS) 
Requirements - The applicant must:

  1. must be an APS Member, with a joining date prior to submitting the application for AAPS.
  2.  
  3. have obtained 100 Acceptances (which can include Acceptances gained for LAPS) that meet the following conditions:
    (i) at least 10 Acceptances from APS approved National or International Exhibitions, and
    (ii) 5 different titles which have received at least one award (as defined above).
    No more than 2 Awards are claimable from any one country other than Australia which is unlimited.

The applicant may start the journey at this level

FELLOWSHIP (FAPS) 
Requirements - The applicant must:

  1. have been an APS Member for at least one year immediately prior to applying for FAPS;
  2. have obtained 200 Acceptances in International exhibitions (which can include Acceptances gained for LAPS or AAPS in International Exhibitions) that meet the following conditions:
    (i) at least 20 Acceptances from APS approved Australian International Exhibitions.
    (ii) 10 different titles which have received at least one award (as defined above) from 5 different countries in International Exhibitions

The applicant may start the journey at this level

 MASTER (MAPS) 

Requirements - The applicant must:

  1. have been an APS Member for at least one year immediately prior to applying for MAPS;
  2. hold FAPS.
  3. have obtained at least 300 new acceptances from International Exhibitions (with titles that have not previously been used for LAPS, AAPS, or FAPS, however, acceptances received prior to 1/1/2017 do not require new titles) that meet the following conditions:
    (i) Minimum of 20 Acceptances to be gained from APS approved Australian International Exhibitions;
    (ii) 15 different titles which have received at least one award (as defined above) from 7 different countries in International Exhibitions.

 GRAND MASTER (GMAPS) 

Requirements - The applicant must:

  1. have been an APS Member for at least one year immediately prior to applying for GMAPS.
  2. hold MAPS.
  3. have obtained at least 300 new acceptances from International Exhibitions, with titles that have not previously been used for LAPS, AAPS, FAPS or MAPS, that meet the following conditions:
    (i) Minimum of 20 Acceptances to be gained from APS approved Australian International Exhibitions;
    (ii) 20 different titles which have received at least one award (as defined above) from 9 different countries in International Exhibitions.

 APS EXHIBITORS MEDAL (APSEM) 

Requirements - The applicant must:

  1. have been an APS Member for at least one year immediately prior to applying for APSEM.
  2. hold GMAPS.
  3. have obtained at least 600 acceptances from International Exhibitions (with titles that have not previously been used for LAPS, AAPS, FAPS, MAPS or GMAPS) that meet the following conditions:
    (i) at least 100 different titles.
    (ii) at least 40 acceptances from APS approved Australian International exhibitions approved by APS.
    (iii) at least 30 different titles which have won an award.  These awards must have been gained from at least 10 different countries.

APSEM Levels

APSEM/bronze

The applicant must:

  1. have been an APS Member for at least one year immediately prior to applying for APSEM/bronze
  2. hold APSEM.
  3. have obtained at least 100 acceptances from International Exhibitions (with titles that have not previously been used for LAPS, AAPS, FAPS, MAPS, GMAPS or APSEM) that meet the following conditions:
  1. at least 100 different titles
  2. at least 40 acceptances from Australian International exhibitions approved by APS.
  3. at least 40 different titles, which have won an award. These awards must have been gained from at least 10 different countries.

 APSEM/silver

The applicant must:

  1. have been an APS Member for at least one year immediately prior to applying for APSEM/silver
  2. hold APSEM/bronze.
  3. have obtained at least 100 acceptances from International Exhibitions (with titles that have not previously been used for LAPS, AAPS, FAPS, MAPS, GMAPS, APSEM or APSEM/bronze) that meet the following conditions:
  1. at least 100 different titles
  2. at least 40 acceptances from Australian International exhibitions approved by APS.
  3. at least 50 different titles, which have won an award. These awards must have been gained from at least 10 different countries.

 APSEM/gold

The applicant must:

  1. have been an APS Member for at least one year immediately prior to applying for APSEM/gold
  2. hold APSEM/silver.
  3. have obtained at least 100 acceptances from International Exhibitions (with titles that have not previously been used for LAPS, AAPS, FAPS, MAPS, GMAPS, APSEM, APSEM/bronze or APSEM/silver) that meet the following conditions:
  1. at least 100 different titles
  2. at least 40 acceptances from Australian International exhibitions approved by APS.
  3. at least 60 different titles, which have won an award. These awards must have been gained from at least 10 different countries.

 Judging Credits - apply from 1st Jan 2020

  1. 2 judging credits can be earned, per section that a member judges.
  2. National judging credits can only be used in LAPS & AAPS applications.
  3. International judging credits can be used at any honours level.
  4. Maximum of 5% of the acceptance requirement of an honours application can be judging credits.
  5. Judging credits can only be used once so where an applicant has claimed judging credits then a Retired Judging credits list (AED6) be supplied with each future honours application. Unused judging credits can be used in subsequent honours applications.
  6. Judging Credits cannot be used to replace the requirement of Australian acceptances in the various Honours levels.
  7. The member must supply a copy of the relevant page in the catalogue, or other evidence, that shows which sections were judged.

 AUDIO VISUAL

LICENTIATESHIP (AV-LAPS)

Requirements -This Honour recognises the skilled AV author. The applicant must:
a. be an APS Member when applying for AV-LAPS,
b. have achieved 20 National Acceptances. International Acceptances may be substituted, with 1 International Acceptance deemed equivalent to 2 National Acceptances.

ASSOCIATESHIP (AV-AAPS)

Requirements -This Honour recognises the accomplished AV author. The applicant must:
a. be an APS Member when applying for AV-AAPS,
b. have achieved 30 National Acceptances. International Acceptances may be substituted, with 1 International Acceptance deemed equivalent to 2 National Acceptances. Acceptances used in a prior successful AV-LAPS application may be used for AV-AAPS,
c. have achieved 3 National or International Awards from 3 different AVs.

FELLOWSHIP (AV-FAPS)

Requirements -This Honour recognises the polished AV author who has achieved a noteworthy National and International record of success. The applicant must:
a. have been an APS member for at least one year prior to applying for AV-FAPS,
b. have been a financial member of APS continuously for a period of at least the one year immediately prior to the closing date for applications and must hold AV-AAPS at the time of applying for AV-FAPS,
c. have achieved 20 International Acceptances from at least 8 different AVs (which can include International Acceptances used in prior successful APS AV Honours applications),
i. 3 International Awards from 3 different titles(which can include any International Awards used for AV-LAPS and AV-AAPS), or
ii. 6 National Awards, plus 2 International Awards from 2 different AVs (which can include any International or National Awards used in prior successful APS AV Honours applications).

MASTER (AV-MAPS)

Requirements -The Master Honour recognises the outstanding AV author who continues to achieve impressive International success. The applicant must:
a. have been a financial member of APS for at least one year immediately prior to the closing date for applications and must hold AV-FAPS at the time of applying for AV-MAPS,
b. have achieved 25 International Acceptances from at least 10 different AVs that have not been used in prior successful APS AV Honours,
c. have achieved 6 International Awards from 6 different AVs that have not been used in prior successful APS AV Honours application,
d. submit a 'Retired AV Titles' list of all AVs used in prior successful APS AV Honours applications.

GRAND MASTER (AV-GMAPS)

Requirements -The Grand Master Honour recognises the exceptional AV author who has reached the highest standing among international exhibitors with an extensive record of success. The applicant must:
a. have been a financial member of APS for at least one year immediately prior to the closing date for applications and must hold AV-MAPS at the time of applying for AV-GMAPS,
b. have achieved 25 International Acceptances from at least 10 different AVs that have not been used in prior successful APS AV Honours applications,
c. have achieved 8 International Awards from 8 different AVs that have not been used in prior successful APS AV Honours applications,
