Thank you Margaret. In fact I was using a 50 mm 1.8 so strictly speaking it properly was the wrong lens. He certainly had a good eye. His dermatitis across his hands meant that you virtually thought that you were looking at the hands of the gorilla! I'll submit a self-portrait next and will be interested in your comment.

Were you using the wrong lens? What an extraordinary incident and I am touched that you shared this with us all. The eyes are haunting, with their touch of green in such a dark face. Lots of symbols in that. If this were my image I would have cropped a little bit of the beard and arm off, making it more rectangular to keep the visual energy with the face. An impactful image indeed.

He called me over to tell me I was using the wrong lens. Had a great conversation with a man sleeping on cardboard. Never think that such a man is not generous and chatty.
