FIAP Nature Biennial 2020

FIAP Nature Biennial 2020

Submissions for the APS entry into the 2020 FIAP Nature Biennial are open and I extend a call to all members of the Australian Photographic Society who photograph nature to very seriously consider submitting images for possible selection to represent the APS in this prestigious international competition between National Photographic Federations, that are affiliated with the International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP).

There are two sections in 2020, digital and prints. Each nation sets a theme for their entry and selects images from it’s members to enter as a themed set. The Biennial judging itself gives points and awards to individual images and then also points for the coherence of the set as a whole, including subject and presentation.

To provide the opportunity for the widest group of APS members to enter, your council, in consultation with our FIAP representative in APS, have reassessed our strategy and have chosen separate topics for the Nature Digital entry and the Nature Print entry. However all images in both sections are to be in colour.

The best part is - it is FREE to submit your images!!!

The Nature Digital topic is BIRDS IN ACTION

What we are looking for is a strong story: Images depicting birds exhibiting some sort of action (but not limited to) interacting with another bird, feeding, catching prey etc. (Please do not submit static images of ‘a single bird on a stick) We need to make our submission exciting as well as cohesive.

The Nature Print topic is MAMMALS – TWO OF A KIND

What we are looking for in this topic is, again a strong story with images of mammals of the same species interacting, fighting, feeding etc. Again, we need to make our submission exciting as well as cohesive.  Importantly, images chosen by the APS selectors can be counted towards APS Honours. Images given a score of 8 or more in the Biennial judging itself can be counted for FIAP Distinctions.

So let’s review our image libraries or better still get out in the field and capture some amazing images to meet the brief of topics above.

Visit this page to download the entry forms. We look forward to your submitted images.
